Why I decided to start my own business and join one of the most unpopular professions in the UK. I’ve worked in the property industry for over 20 years and the general perception of estate agents are pretty poor with common complaints being they only care about getting properties on the books, over valuing a property so you’ll sign up into a binding sole agency contract but later told to drop the price when it hasn’t sold, told your property will be a fully managed letting but you spent your time calling their office who never returned your calls to deal with a problem they were contracted to deal with , piling on hidden charges which they seem to make up as they went along and of course, getting their commission which you felt they did very little for….sound familiar?
Similar to the once unregulated building trade were the “cowboy builders” many whom had no building skills or qualifications and preyed on the vulnerable who gave their absolute trust believing they were dealing with an expert in their field backed by professional looking shop fronts and sign written vehicles but once they parted with their hard earned cash, many received either a poor standard of work or no work at all, as the builder just simply disappeared.
The building trade has since undergone a major shake-up with much of the industry now regulated with penalties in place for those who are in breach and today, there are many professional tradesman with high standards of work within the industry whilst most of the rogue traders have all but vanished…or did they move into real estates? Sorry, I couldn’t resist but seriously, why is the estate & letting industry still widely unregulated with no qualifications needed?
Having expert local knowledge was the easy part for us having lived in the borough for over 30 years. Legislation in residential sales and lettings is a minefield, so I put my head down and studied hard and am proud to be awarded the Technical Awards and accredited under NFOPP (National Federation of property professionals) scheme in the Sale of Residential property and Residential Letting & Property Management, the highest and most recognised award in the UK. We are also fully accredited and regulated by the Property Ombudsman in both Sales and Lettings, ensuring we work to a strict code of practice.
Technology…well, as effective as it is, the problems it brings for consumers are they feel neglected by customer service, knowledgeable staff, accountability and lack of human interaction and that once existed before technology took hold. We were committed to customer care being the forefront of our business.

We market all on the major portals such as Rightmove Zoopla Primelocation and social media channels such as Facebook, achieving the best price in the shortest possible time.
We’re opposed to the numbers game, getting as much property as possible in the hopes a few will sell or let. How could we possibly provide our clients a focused, individual personal service with such a strategy? More importantly, we sell and let every property we undertake and it would be a disservice to conduct our business selling and letting property pinned to hope.
